In October, pro aqua participated as a strategic technology partner at the WSP booth during Pollutec Lyon, one of Europe’s leading trade fairs for environmental and water technologies. The focus of the presentation was the newly developed PFASER™ process by WSP, with pro aqua’s electrolysis technology taking center stage at the booth.
The partnership between WSP and pro aqua represents an important step in advancing sustainable technologies for the treatment of persistent contaminants. By integrating BDD flow cells from pro aqua, the electrochemical oxidation of even highly stable organic compounds – including PFAS – becomes possible. Together, the two companies are driving the practical implementation of forward-looking water and wastewater treatment technologies.

pro aqua flow cells in the focus of attention

The BDD electrolysis flow cells from pro aqua form the technological foundation of the PFASER™ system. They are the result of many years of research in the field of electrochemical oxidation processes and stand for exceptional performance, stability, and durability.
What makes pro aqua’s BDD technology so remarkable is the combination of an extremely high anodic overpotential and a wide electrochemical potential window. This leads to the formation of highly reactive hydroxyl radicals on the diamond surface, which completely mineralize even the most persistent organic compounds down to the molecular level. The electrodes are made of boron-doped diamond on a polymer substrate, are corrosion-free, chemically inert, and possess an exceptionally long service life under continuous operation.

Electrochemistry in action

Another highlight at the booth was the live demonstration of our core technology by pro aqua CEO Wolfgang Staber. In a transparent presentation cell, a blue-colored test solution – representing contaminated water – impressively demonstrated the electrochemical degradation of organic compounds as well as the effectiveness and precision of the patented pro aqua technology.
Together against persistent pollutants
pro aqua’s presence as a partner underscored the significance of our technology within the collaboration and its role in developing innovative solutions to the escalating PFAS challenge. The combination of international engineering expertise and specialized electrode technology is opening entirely new pathways. pro aqua will continue to actively shape this development together with WSP in the future.
