The use of electrochemically-activated water is therefore suitable for many different industries – ultimately where high hygienic standards have to be met.

Our EW Units take care of the industrial production of electrochemically-activated water (EW). We distinguish between systems tailored to customer requirements and pro aqua EW Units. Tailored systems are planned and developed in close cooperation with the customer and the customers themselves build the system. pro aqua supplies the components, from the BDD cells to the control system. However, many of our customers request a plug-and-play system and therefore opt for a pro aqua EW Units.

Electrochemically-activated water is now also and mostly used for preventive protection of plants against plant diseases such as mildew or botrytis.

Modules

The systems consist of:

  • Water softening system (optional)
  • Salt water tank
  • EW tank
  • Electrolysis cell(s) with boron-doped
    diamond electrodes
  • Control cabinet

Size

The system’s size is determined on the basis of the following parameters:

  • Litres of electrochemically-activated water
    per unit of time
  • Desired oxidant content

Prerequisites

The following prerequisites must be met on the side of the customer in order to be able to put the system into operation immediately:

  • Space for the system
  • Water and electricity connection
  • Salt for the salt water tank

Electrochemically-activated water:
A reliable all-rounder

Electrochemically-activated water can be used in a wide variety of different areas, as they differ greatly depending on the composition of the salt water and the concentration of oxidant produced. In principle, the Electrochemically-activated water produced with EW Units complies with the EU Biocidal Products Regulation (BPR) No. 528/2012 and among others, the following standards:

  • EN 1276 Chemical disinfectants and antiseptics
    (bactericidal activity of chemical disinfectants and antiseptics used in food, industrial, domestic and institutional areas).
  • EN 13697 Chemical disinfectants and antiseptics
    (bactericidal and/or fungicidal activity of chemical disinfectants and antiseptics in food, industrial, domestic and institutional areas)
  • EN 14476 Chemical disinfectants and antiseptics
    (virucidal activity in the medical area)

Did you know?

Generally, pro aqua’s EW Units are designed to produce electrolysed water with a concentration of 3,000 mg/l. However, some pro aqua customers have produced electrolysed water in excess of 10,000 mg/l using its BDD Cells.
