On Friday, July 1, 2022, the 20th company anniversary celebration under the motto "Water meets Styrian" took place at the Impulszentrum Niklasdorf, which also serves as the headquarters of pro aqua. In addition to longtime companions from science and business, friends and family of the entire pro aqua team were invited.
More than 120 people had the opportunity to explore pro aqua after the exciting ceremony and learn about technology and products at interesting “Innovation Stations,” all revolving around the unique and patented boron-doped diamond electrode.
“We started from scratch, developed technology and products ourselves with a lot of research and development work, and had to learn a lot. After 20 years, we can say: We are proud of what we have achieved so far.”

The anniversary was not only meant to highlight the careful use of the water resource but also to bring to the forefront those who have driven the company’s positive development over the past 20 years. Among others, Em.o.Univ.-Prof. Dr. Karl-Erich Lorber (Montanuniversität Leoben) and Vice Rector Dr. Martha Mühlburger (Montanuniversität Leoben / ZAT)—both supporters from the very beginning—as well as founders, shareholders, investors, partners, and all employees were duly honored.
Mayor Johann Marak was also impressed: “I am absolutely delighted by the products manufactured here and the gentle way the water resource is handled.”
The 13-member team has generated almost €26 million at the Niklasdorf site over the past 10 years and, with an export quota of 94%, has become an important economic engine for the community.
